Another stylistic feature from the third-century Syro-Palestinian region is the thinly blown spherical body with a flaring in-folded rim (HKU.M.2022.2617).

This jar was likely used to store food items. The wide flaring rim may have provided the strong lip needed to fasten a lid to close the vessel.
